YOU’RE GREAT AT CREATING, BUT PUTTING WORDS TO YOUR PROCESS AND PRACTICE IS A STRUGGLE.
WELCOME CREATORS!
I’M MARGRET AND I HELP ARTISTS TELL THEIR STORY, SHOW UP WITH CONFIDENCE AND ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS.
When artists share their process, their motivations, and the impact they hope to have with their audience, it builds trust, creates genuine connection, and increases engagement.
CONFIDENT STORYTELLING ABOUT YOUR CREATIVE PRACTICE AND THE ART YOU CREATE IS CRUCIAL IF YOU WANT TO GET YOUR WORK OUT IN THE WORLD. LET ME HELP YOU GET CLOSER TO WHERE YOU WANT O BE, WHETHER IT’S SELLING WORK AT A HIGHER PRICE POINT, IGNITING CONVERSATION, RECEIVING RECOGNITION, EXPANDING COLLABORATIONS, OR LANDING THAT ART RESIDENCY IN TUSCANY.
CONNECT YOUR ART WITH YOUR AUDIENCE
As the creator and host of the Authentic Obsessions podcast, I've listened as over 100 artists and creators have shared what’s behind their work. And as they talk about the things they nerd out about, their passions and obsessions, it becomes easier for them to speak from the heart about ALL the parts of the creative process. My own curiosity compels me to dig deeper and ask more questions, which leads them to more insights, “ah-ha” moments and opportunities for awareness.
Your authentic obsession is that thing that permeates your creative life, keeps bubbling up, that you can't stop thinking and talking about. It is uniquely your own because of the way it comes out in your work. It could be tangible or intangible, it might relate directly to the work you create, your inspiration, or something else. There are no rules about this.
And once you figure out your obsession and share the stories behind your work — the inspiration, the techniques, and the personal journeys — you’re well on your way to crafting your messages and telling your stories in a genuine way that will naturally create emotional connections with your audience.

A few fun bits about me…
▶︎ Time stops when I’m turning reclaimed textiles and worn clothing into modern improv quilts.
▶︎ I can’t follow a recipe to save my life, but I can whip up an incredible spread from whatever’s in the fridge. And my fridge is filled with fresh produce from my local farmer’s market!
▶︎ I’d always rather be outside. Nature solves wicked problems. (and the everyday sticky problems too!)
▶︎ Writing a first draft of anything tends to make me squirm, but once I’ve got some words on a page I make them shine. Editing is my jam. (And yes, when you need a second eye on your bio, artist statement, website, residency application, I’m here for you!)
▶︎ I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up, so I tried everything until I discovered coaching. Now, I get to use ALL the parts of me to help other people flourish!

-In the Act podcast with Erica Jane Huntzinger and the Mead Public Library
And a little bit about my professional history…
▶︎ My conversations with artists and creators for my podcast, Authentic Obsessions, keep me inspired and engaged.
▶︎ I've attended countless creative workshops—collage, fiber arts, printmaking, quilting, painting, drawing—and the joy, enthusiasm, and passion for creating, along with the connections we formed, are my most vivid memories. And seeing the excitement and creativity of attendees in my collage and Gelli printing workshops is absolutely priceless!
▶︎ My coaching certification was an intense 15 months of digging deep into Positive Psychology and the science of well being and flourishing.
▶︎ I powered through a master’s in education while working full-time as an academic services dean at my local university. The highlight of those 16 years in higher education was teaching a science communication class to grad students - the first of its kind in our program! (it’s imperative to get your research out there in the world if you want to influence behavior and policy!).
▶︎ I’ve also worked as a personal chef, Realtor, and a financial analyst!
